The Dos and Don'ts of Posting Listing Photos Online

Listing photos are a common form of content found on a real estate agent’s social media page. Dripping in these kinds of posts every once in a while is an excellent way to let your audience know that you’re active and successful in the industry. Are you looking to get the most out of your listing photo posts? Keep reading to learn the dos and don’ts of posting listing photos on your social media pages! And be sure to watch the video above to get some insight from RE/MAX Metro's own social media experts.

Social Media Worthy?

On platforms like Facebook and Instagram, there are “unspoken rules” to what you should and shouldn’t post. More often than not, online users are going to engage with content that looks aesthetically pleasing and well thought out. Try to post listing photos that look professional and showcase the home beautifully. If possible, clear any clutter prior to taking the listing photos in order to minimize distractions in the image. Also, avoid placing any text over the selected images! Instead, put all text in the caption of the post. This will help you score better with the social media AIs and could encourage a better response from your audience!

Best of the Batch

Some listings look good from every angle! Others… not so much. Regardless of how great your listing looks, only select specific pictures to post to social media. Too many listing photos in a post could lose the interest of your audience and turn you into “white noise.” Instead, select about four to eight of the very best pictures from the shoot to post online! Look through each of the photos from the batch and pick out your favorites. Also, try to mix and match the focus of your images in your post! Include some rooms, pool, and exterior shots whenever possible. This will leave your audience wanting more and properly diversify your feed.

A Touch of You

At the end of the day, social media is intended for entertainment. Although your business is awesome, people really want to see more of you! If possible, include a picture of yourself in front of, inside, or around your listing when making your social media post. This will add a unique element of personalization to your post and keep your face at top of mind with your audience. Snap a quick selfie or ask your photographer to take a picture of you at the listing in order to achieve this. Then, include the touch of you at the end of the picture collection for a fun surprise!

Posting listing photos is an excellent way for agents to stay active online and drip in some business content to their page. Be sure to add some good copy to your caption and get to posting!
